In the original Brothers Grimm story, she and the man she married a day after meeting him force her step mother to dance herself to death in red-hot iron shoes as penance for being her abuser. She also spoke to wild animals and served men by cleaning up after them and making them food. I would agree with an assessment that you have inner warmth, but I don't find it to be a real comparison beyond the name.

[ The Disney one is much cuter... but that would involve Midorima admitting he watched the Disney version!! ]

They aren't my fairy tales, they simply are what they are. That's why I brought it up, the original German name is Schneeweißchen.

My country's fairy tales are rather different.

Visu the Woodsman and the Old Priest. It's a story about a man who never prays and only works, meets a priest who tells him that he needs to pray and argues that if he doesn't work, his family will starve. The priest frightens him with stories of the consequences of not praying, such as being reincarnated as awful things, and Visu chooses to do nothing but pray. His crops wither and his family starts to starve. His wife speaks up against him to tell him he needs to work and he tells her off and leaves. He gets caught watching two kitsune disguised as women play a game on the mountain and when he returns, three hundred years have passed because the gods chose to punish him by trapping him in a trance for his family to die out around him because he chose fear over hard work, and thus lost what was important to him.

[ The moral is that you need to work hard and not rely solely on outside powers to take care of things for you, even if you choose to believe. You must do both. Of course Midorima likes it. ]

[ What is she even supposed to think of this story? Her initial reaction is that it's dumb, but she goes back to why it's dumb in the first place. The man keeps working, then he gave all that up and started praying without doing anything. Okay, so maybe it's not the story that's dumb? The ending is a little disturbing and she can't believe that's a story parents tell their kids, but... ]

Yes, that's the point. A man who chooses fear over hard work and those important to him is doomed to lose them. If you choose to believe in something, you still have to put the effort in.

[ The man is really dumb. That's a summary, there's even a whole scene where an old lady yells at him for being a neglectful dumbass in the story. ]

[ She bites her lower lip so she doesn't let out what she considers is a boisterous laugh. In the end, a soft amused huff escapes her. ]

[ The salad is pretty easy to finish too, but she shares a couple of leaves, transferring them to Midorima's plate before finishing. They're done almost at the same time. ]

No. I'm not home long enough for it to be fair to an animal.

[ He likes to keep busy.. He can't leave an animal home alone, even if he has a roommate since he doesn't know Aoba's schedule all the time. ]

[ Yeah... that's kind of the same issue Weiss has, too. ]

You know, I've never heard of cat cafes and puppy cafes in Atlas. I'm glad there's such a thing here. It's fun being able to spend time with dogs, especially.

[ She doesn't want to just ditch him like that?? She knows Midorima would leave her if he wanted to and if he were in her shoes now, but waiting just feels like the right thing to do. ]

[ Why is she trying to watch him clean up after her?? He gives her a brow-furrowed look, but cleans up anyway, and comes back over with a handy wipe for Weiss and himself. They don't want people getting germs on the animals anymore than they want people leaving without washing after getting doglicked. very important. ]

Clean first, then we can greet the animals.

[ She's clean!! Her hands are clean, but the wipe helps, so once her hands are even cleaner, she gets up and waits for Midorima to get up, too. ]

We can probably order the snack for the dogs now, then have it served on the other side.
