[ Midorima listens to Weiss, sitting down easily. He watches the little maltese that's approaching, while a golden retriever puppy jumps across his lap to get over to Weiss. The retriever immediately tries to lick her chin, then invade her cup of treats.

Weiss doesn't seem to mind though. Any other time, she'd get mad because her dress could pucker, but because it's a puppy, she's completely fine with it. In fact, she's enjoying her new friend's company! Enough that she picks up the fallen treats and starts handing it to the puppy one by one.
She looks over at Midorima whose new friend seems just as calm as he is. They make a good pair. ]
[ What is she expecting? Excitement and cute is their state of existence. Though the one who seems to have invaded Midorima's space is very calm. In fact, as it gets closer, he picks it up and holds it closer to his chest. He's careful to make sure that the puppy can jump down to his lap if it needs to, so it knows that it's not being trapped or contained. A puppy that feels safe is a happy puppy. ]
[ Weiss is quick to take out her device to take a snapshot of Midorima and the puppy. It's candid and cute! Weiss certainly seems proud to have gotten a nice picture.
Though this also means that the puppy that's giving her attention is stealing more biscuits. Weiss sets down her device and grabs what's left. ]
[ He doesn't seem to have noticed yet and is just petting the tiny puppy with his right hand. The maltese seems to be trying to figure out his bandages on his left hand though because it doesn't feel like a hand?? What is this??? ]

[ Another dog comes over at that moment, an elder pomchi who promptly gives the golden retriever's tail a little nip to get its attention. ]
But she totally doesn't mind. She likes being able to take care of everyone. Sure, it wasn't a role she was willing to undertake before, but she's grown used to it.
Weiss takes some more pictures of the dogs, even giving the new dog a treat since it approaches her easily enough. Then she offers the one with Midorima a treat!
Try setting the treat down and offer the back of your hand. She may simply want to smell you first.
[ He doesn't know a lot about animals, but he knows that much. They have to decide you're ok first. That's about as far as his knowledge goes though. HE sets the small maltese down on the floor next to Weiss and picks up the retriever so that she can give it fuller attention.]
[ Weiss is definitely not an expert, so she takes Midorima's advice right away. She puts the treat down and offers her hand to the maltese first. It works, because it moves closer to sniff her. She ends up looking at Midorima with a hopeful and excited smile.
Then the puppy sneezes and walks away...

But most importantly, from behind, a husky chow chow that looks like a tiny bear is jumping up to push Weiss's back with its paws. Payyyy attention to it and its tiny woof that is way smaller than its poofy fur!!
Midorima picks the tiny maltese up again, this time trying the ultimate move so that he can play with other dogs and protect the tiny one: he's putting it into his shirt pocket just as a dapple dachshund plods its way over between them, clearly torn on who to pay attention to. They both have treats?? ]
I think we all have people we prefer over others.
[ Maybe this is how he brings up something that's been bothering him. Hm. ]
Look, they like me! [ Weiss being upset over one small dog gets forgotten when she feels paws on her back and when she's pushed forward. It gets her to laugh before she shifts so she's facing Midorima, now accommodating doggies from her front and back for pets and treats and tight hugs once they've received their treat.
One hug from a puppy means the others practically jump on her though. They might be small but they're still a lot. ]
