[ Good. Weiss is not exactly pleased, but she's at least satisfied that Fang seems to... well, heel. She won't blame the other woman for being angry and upset, of course, because Weiss can be that way, too. In fact, she could be even worse! But she's been slightly desensitised thanks to this place, and because she has been here for a few weeks and wasn't lost in the nooks and crannies of this place, she is a lot more calm. ]
I'm not sure if seeing you again is a good or bad thing.
[ Because that just means she's here to play the game instead of being wherever she was before. But that also means— ]
What do you mean, though? Were you, um, wherever you were, along with others who woke up here a few weeks ago, too?
[ She'd thought those people who disappeared went back home. Guess this little detail complicates things. Maybe people can't really go home after all. ]
If you can believe it, not the first time I've heard that.
[Fang responds, with a huff, and then sits right in the middle of the elevator with no preamble, back pressed to one of the walls, legs stretched in front of her and the scowl on her face deepening as she recalls her month in empty corridor hell, a place that seemed a part of casino hell but somehow separate from it.]
I've got no idea where I was. Got lost somewhere with loads of hallways that went nowhere, 'til they went somewhere. Then I ended up in caves with horny octopus monsters. By the time I got out of whatever the hell that was, the staff was waiting.
[An eyeroll.] They all did this big song and dance about how sorry they were, and what a big mistake it was that I somehow ended up in who knows where. They claimed the place was supposed to be closed off. Didn't bother explaining much else. So there you have it. Turns out I never left at all.
[ It's a comment that gets a soft laugh out of her, at least. Nothing giddy, nothing that says she's in an exceptionally good mood. While Fang sits on the floor though, Weiss stays upright, merely leaning on the wall next to the other lady. ]
Horny octopus— no, nope. I think I'm better off not knowing.
[ She visibly shudders at that, wincing at the same time. ]
At least you're here now, instead of wherever that was? [ That probably isn't much consolation, though. ] You didn't miss much, in case you were curious.
These paintings are. . . I don't know. I doubt they're new, but they definitely weren't like this before.
[ Weiss just knows they're going to say something though, so she shoots the painting a look before she can even hear anything from them.
Oh, right, right! You two are setting the mood! Yes, of course. We'll wait. Patiently. ]
[Craning her neck up to look at Weiss, Fang snorts at the remark.] Yeah, you are better off not knowing. Believe me.
[Her mood seems to be better though, judging by her body language — an arm lazily draped on her knee, her other leg stretched out, her back relaxed against the wall. Not much point in getting bent out of shape now. Didn't seem to move the paintings any.]
From a maze of hallways to being trapped in a box with a magical voyeur painting. Yeah, I really won the lottery on good luck. [She sighs.]
Well, there's my shitty update. How have you been?
[ Weiss will hold off on any smartass comments for now. It would seem that Fang isn't as angry anymore, and it's best it stays that way. It'd just make her cranky again, too. ]
There aren't any tentacles here, at least. Just... them.
[ And she gestures to the painting watching them. It isn't what she would have liked to say, so this is... better!
When she's asked about how she's been, though, the slight red of her cheeks can't be helped. It's embarrassing to admit, but there's really no point in hiding it. ]
Ugh, I'm still here and I haven't found my way back home yet. [ Which really isn't so bad in hindsight when everyone is in the same boat, but— ] I told myself I wouldn't play the stupid game, but here I am... playing it sometimes.
[Gaze cutting to the painting as she mulls over what Weiss says, Fang's response comes out surprisingly thoughtful.]
So you're doing what you need to do to survive in this place. [There's a somber set to her mouth, a distance in her gaze that suggests she's thinking of something else.] No shame in that. I wager it's harder to get out of here than we think.
[Here Fang stands up again, motions to the enclosed space around them.] Case in point — it plays pranks like this.
[Gradually, the weight to her words lightens a bit: she makes an aggrieved face.] Hmm. Speaking of, we ought to bite the bullet, you and me. Else we'll be trapped in this damn elevator 'til kingdom come.
[ It's still weird to think about, that she's doing all these things she normally wouldn't partake in just to be able to get someplace here. If it means she can go back home at some point though, or at the very least, get more information about this place to be able to get back at it, then hopefully it will be worth it in the end. ]
It's not the worst prank, at least.
[ But, she is right. They ought to get on with it... Weiss lets out a soft laugh. ]
Right. So, are you capable of being cute when you want to be?
[At Weiss’ question, Fang approaches her with languid grace, resting a hand on the wall beside Weiss’ head and leaning forward. With the same unrushed deliberateness, she places two fingers under the smaller woman’s chin, tilting her head upward.
She leans over, partially shielding them from the hungry eyes of the painting.]
I can manage being cute enough, if that’s your preference.
[Her smile comes, slow and pleased, mostly with herself.]
[ It's a quick shift in the mood, and even though Weiss asked, almost as if demanding that Fang be that witty and charming lady she met the first time a month or so ago?
This renders her speechless. Colour fills her cheeks as she finds herself staring, but her state of fluster only lasts for a few seconds. Weiss, fortunately, manages to right herself. ]
That was one of the stipulations. [ In getting out of here. So even if this is an act, or if this is a side of her that's actually real, Weiss welcomes it. She can be just as cute, too. ] I'd say you're doing much better now.
[If Fang's little half-smirk widens at Weiss' blush, she won't admit to it openly. With careful tenderness, she brushes a lock of hair behind Weiss' ear, then glances over to the painting.]
You hear that? I'm doing better. You better let us out after this, else I'm gonna make a bonfire out of you.
[The threat is delivered casually, but there is something about the tone that suggests dead seriousness. That done, she turns back to Weiss, then dips her head to meet her in a kiss that is slow but nonetheless sensual.]
[ Tough girl and a charmer. Weiss had a feeling. Nothing wrong with it, though. Maybe another time, she can drag Fang out somewhere to get to know her better. Following their own terms, of course. None of that being stuck in places...
Fang turns back to Weiss after giving the painting a threat. Blue eyes meet Fang's for a second until any distance they have between them is gone. Weiss' lips are taken, kissed, and she closes her eyes in response as she returns the kiss. Much as she wants to get out of here quickly, the way she kisses Fang is slow and gentle, a little experimental as she follows the other woman's lead. ]
fang.
